The ancient Chinese were obsessed with “the beauty” of bound, broken feet. The Kayan Lahwi women of Burma distort their necks with a foot of thick, gold cuffs. If beauty is subjective, why can’t we learn to love what we have, to embrace everything, even our pimples, wrinkles and weathered, sagging skin? Afterall, we humans are the ones who make up the rules. Why not make them kinder?
